Kuwahee Wastewater Treatment Plant Composite Corrections Plan

Overview

The wastewater treatment plant is located on the banks of the Tennessee River just south of the University of Tennessee campus. The plant property is bound by the Tennessee River on the south, a concrete batch plant on the west, The University of Tennessee on the north, a public boat ramp on the east, and is bisected by Neyland Drive (the main arterial road providing access the University of Tennessee’s Neyland Football Stadium).

This project will increase the secondary treatment capacity of sanitary sewer flows at the facility. Upon completion, the facility will provide secondary treatment of up to 120 million gallons per day to accommodate peak flows during wet weather events.

The work also includes:

• construction of a new aeration basin, pump station, and chemical/blower building associated with the BEHRC facility
• modifications to the plant’s existing chlorine contact tank
• several thousand feet of large diameter sewage piping
• miscellaneous electrical and controls upgrades, and site improvements
